The new McKINNA 60 Express Yacht is an example of doing it right. The "platform" is the Howard Apollonio-designed hull well-proven records for seaworthiness and comfort.

Working with designer J.C. Espinosa, the result is a very clever design that might best be called a "cockpit express cruiser."

With the addition of the water-level cockpit, the inflexibility of express cruiser styling has been removed. It's a great place for the family barbecue, with a forward console that includes a Kenyon barbecue and Isotherm fridge. The transom door makes it safe for kids, but allows easy boarding from the tender. And, with the optional lifting stern platform, you can launch your tender at the push of a button or create a submerged "beach" for water fun at anchor.

Dark Blue Hulls show the confidence MCKINNA has in their mold-work: the hull is mirror-perfect. The deckhouse is set well aft for a rakish look, and the cockpit blends into the overall lines without being an afterthought.

In addition to two wide bench seats, the large cockpit contains an expansive settee winding along the port side and encompassing a central island bar, with an ingeniously mounted sliding table for al fresco dining. Another settee and a broad padded sun lounge extend across the aft cockpit area, concealing the tender garage.

Below, the main salon has over seven feet of headroom, giving an open, airy feeling. Available two- or three-stateroom layouts place the salon between the Owner and guest quarters, allowing complete privacy. MCKINNA has succeeded in offering a well-thought-out model that combines a stylish interior with on-deck comfort and stable performance.
